Mr. Leroy Bell, 97, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He was a WWII veteran and member of the American Legion Post 120 in Waynesboro, GA. He worked at Perfection and retired from Yancey Brothers after 17 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace and Edla Bell; wife of 59 years Versie H. Bell; daughter, June Bell; and brothers, Edga Bell, Melvin Bell, and Richard Bell.
Surviving are his sister, Joyce Abernathy (Charles) of Forest City, NC; daughter, Joyce Bell of Brooklet GA, daughter Brenda Britt (Dennis) and son, Leroy Bell Jr. (Kathy) all of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wes Lawson. Burial will follow at Habersham Methodist Church Cemetery in Perkins. Pallbearers will be Mark McClain, grandsons Keith Quick, Kylie Bell, Ryan Flakes, LJ Scholtes, and Blake Quick. Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 120.
