Waynesboro-Leonard Wilson, Sr., 59, entered into rest Thursday, May 17, 2012. Mr. Wilson was the kind of person who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was also a self-employed commercial contractor who spent his life doing the work he loved to do.Mr. Wilson was born in Jenkins County on April 25, 1953 to the late Waldo and Fannie Wilson.He was preceded in death by a brother, Rusty Wilson, and a sister, Peggy Leiby.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Diane DeLaigle Wilson; four children, Michele Thames (Beep), Len Wilson (Bianca), Jennifer Wilson (Jamie), all of Waynesboro, and Kim Shields of Lodi, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Blayke, and Cruise Thames, Lennox and Braddock Wilson, River, Landon, and Madyson Moats, Joshua Murphy, Samantha and Kailey Shields; five siblings, Cornelius Edwards, Shirley Bell, Waldo Wilson, Randy Wilson, and Diane Sheppard and Mickey Williams, who was a nephew but loved like a brother. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, May 20th at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 pm, Monday, May 21st at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. The Reverends Wes Lawson and Steve Norsworthy will officiate. Pallbearers are Randall Leiby, David Wilson, Sr., David Wilson, Jr., Donald Wilson, Jr., Derek Wilson, Jeffrey Phillips, Chris Parrish, Kevin Hartley and Leon Gordon. Honorary pallbearers are River Moats, Blayke Thames, Cruise Thames, Lennox Wilson, Landon Moats, and Braddock Wilson.Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro.
