Hephzibah, GA - Kathryn Self Withrow, 86, entered into rest on Friday, October 24, 2008, at Burke Medical Center, Waynesboro.She was born on September 4, 1922 in Edgefield, SC to the late Edward M. and Caroline Salter.Before her retirement, she was employed as a drapery seamstress at Sardis Manufacturing for 15 years.She had been a member of Bath Presbyterian Church since 1939 and served as a deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, where she was a Past Worthy Matron of #463 Richmond Chapter, Hephzibah. She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls at Richmond Lodge #38. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion R. Self, and her second husband, Delmer Withrow; her son, Thomas Self; and her brothers, Ivey Cawley, William "Bill" Salter, and Forrest Salter.
She is survived by her three sons, Donald Self (Harriett) and Bruce Self of Hephzibah, and Terry Self (Donna) Self of Waynesboro; her two daughters, Carolyn Mallard (John) of Wilmington, NC and Helen Key (Jerry) of Grovetown, GA; her sister, Ruby Perteet (Dan) of Riverdale, GA; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Bath Presbyterian Church, Blythe, GA with Pastor Richard D. Geiselman and Pastor Holly Shoaf-O'Kula officiating.Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
