Mrs. Joyce Bolton Segrest, 80, wife of the late Donald E. Segrest, Sr., went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was born on June 4, 1942, in Wilkes County to the late Robert and Sadie Bolton. Joyce and Donald were married 35 years when he passed in December 1997. She was a seamstress, a bus driver for Burke County Schools, and a caregiver for her grandchildren. She was a member of Gough Baptist Church, where she served many years with VBS and singing in the choir. Joyce also learned to play the piano as an adult and enjoyed playing hymns. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ralph and June Segrest, Robert and Kay Segrest, and Joyce Oyler.
She is survived by three children, Donald “Eddy” Segrest, Jr. (Stephanie Jackson) of Augusta, Heather Bentley (Brian) of Augusta, and Benjamin Segrest of Gough; four grandchildren, Brian Segrest (Jessi) of Vidette, Karen Boylan (Pat) of Pendleton, SC, Brandon Bentley of Augusta, and Brady Bentley of Augusta; five great grandchildren, Sasha, Noah, and Winry Segrest, and Brantlee and Collins Boylan; a brother, Madison Bolton (Lisa) of Thomson, a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Segrest (Donna) of Waynesville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, May 2 at Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette, GA. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia or Gough Baptist Church.
