Joyce Smith Hendrix "Me-Maw", 89, entered into rest June 9, 2021. She was born in Emanuel County to the late Ethel and Bill Smith and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. She was a retired seamstress from Sardis Manufacturing Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hubert Hendrix; a son, James "Jimmy" Hubert Hendrix, Jr.; four brothers, James Smith, Bobby Smith, Sammie Smith, and Ted Smith; and six sisters, Jean S. Weathers, Billie S. Arnold, Syble S. Sox, Ruby S. Parham, Wanda S. Brantley, and Patsy S. Arnold.
She is survived by five children, Delores Beasley (Ray) of Statesboro, GA, Kay Rentner (Randy) of Thomasville, GA, Dianne Vickrey (Larry) of Waynesboro, Ellen Hendrix (Phil) of Augusta, and Sam Hendrix (Chundra) of Waynesboro; ten grandchildren, Jimmy Beasley, Keith Beasley (Teri), Kacey Gammon (Jason), Marisa Rentner (Tamara Serena), Larry Vickrey, Jr. (Stacy), Laura McKerley (Jason), Jessica Spencer, Cassidy Spencer, Rebecca Spencer, and Samoyria Joi Hendrix; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two special friends, Daisy Brown and Connie Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, June 11 in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
