Sardis, GA - Mrs. Joyce Bargeron Johnson Prince, 76, loving wife of John E. Prince for 34 years, entered into rest Sunday, October 23, 2011, at University Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, at the funeral home.Rev. Ken Nichols will officiate.Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Prince was a native of Sardis, Georgia.After high school, she went to business school in Augusta, Georgia.Following graduation she worked 23 years at Georgia RR Bank while raising her family.She is well known for her open heart and open door to anyone who came to her door and who needed shelter and nurture.Many of them she helped in those days still contact her and call her "Granny".
She was a lifetime member of Sardis Baptist Church.Later, in her homebound and invalid years, she came to cherish the ministry and sermons of Joel Osteen on television.
Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her father, Hampton Wesley Bargeron; her mother, Marie Taylor Bargeron; and her brother, Warren Howell Bargeron.
Mrs. Prince is survived by her husband, John E. Prince; three sons, William Calvin Johnson (Debbie), Hampton Edward Johnson (Kathy), and Anthony Mark Johnson (Anna); one daughter, Cynthia Ann Johnson; one sister, Janette B. Chance; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.
