Lovejoy (Joy) Skinner Wiley, 76, died on June 1, 2014, at her Sea Island Home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Waynesboro, GA on December 11, 1937 to Charles W., Jr., and Henrietta Boyer Skinner. She graduated from Waynesboro High school in 1955, and went on to earn a BA in English History from Brenau College. Joy and her husband Spencer met in New York City where they settled down and spent many loving years raising a family. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Henrietta. She is survived by her spouse Spencer L. Wiley, daughter Henrietta (Rhetta) L. Wiley (Mary), Step-daughter Anne (Irin) Alphonso, 3 grandchildren Ashton, Allison, and Michael, 4 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

Joy was a long standing member of the Junior League of New York and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was an avid reader and served on the board of the St. Simons Library. Joy was also involved with a variety of clubs and charitable organizations on St. Simons, in Brunswick, and in New York.

The family received visitors at their home on Sea Island Wednesday, June 4 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

A Memorial Service was held at the Chapel at the Cloister Hotel on Thursday, June 5 at 11:00 AM, with a reception following at the family home.

Burial will take place Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro, GA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Lovejoy Wiley to: "Dry Macular Degeneration Research at the Mayo Clinic". Gifts can be mailed to: Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
