June 9, 1925 — February 20, 2010

Waynesboro, GA. - Mrs. Josephine Radford Fowler, 84, died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Dwight D. Eisenhower Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. The family will receive friends at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hopeful Baptist Church on Winter Road. Pastor Greg Glover will be officiating.

Mrs. Fowler was born on June 9, 1925 to the late Sidney and Nora Bass Radford in Kenly, North Carolina.She graduated from the Rex Hospital School of Nursing in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1946 as a Registered Nurse.In 1947 she married her late husband, Patrick Mathias Fowler, Sr.They made their home in Raleigh and later in Thomasville, North Carolina before moving to Georgia in 1955.

She is survived by her children, Patrick Mathias Fowler, Jr. and wife, Jennie of Blythe; Charles Sidney Fowler and wife, Karen of Birmingham, Alabama; Daniel Thomas Fowler, Sr. and wife, Cathy of Blythe and Jane Fowler Partridge and husband, Wayne of Augusta, Georgia.She is also survived by five grandchildren, Martha Fowler Wade, Stephanie Fowler Dodds, Elizabeth Fowler Brady, Mary Fowler Boyce and Daniel Thomas Fowler, Jr.; one step-grandson, Morgan Edward Mizelle; and two great grandchildren, Josephine Frances Dodds and Penelope Marin Wade.She has three surviving siblings, Edna Radford Hill, Ransom Randolph Radford and Robert Ruffin Radford and a multitude of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 4 brothers.

Mrs. Fowler worked as a school nurse, private duty and part time nurse at the Burke County Hospital.She was unable to devote herself to a full time nursing career due to the demands of family and farm life.She enjoyed gardening and was a talented artist.She was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and was involved in every aspect of church life until illness prevented her from continued active participation.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Thomas Fowler, Jr., Edwin Lowrence Wade, Matthew Jordan Dodds, Thomas Christopher Brady, Brian Joshua Boyce, Morgan Edward Mizelle, Leonard Howard, and John Hale, Jr.

Flowers are being accepted, however, memorial contributions can be made to Hopeful Baptist Church, P.O. Box 132, Hephzibah, Georgia 30815.
