Joseph Mobley

September 11, 1943 — October 2, 2016

Joseph Mobley, 73, passed away October 2, 2016 at University Hospital after a long illness.He is survived by his daughters, Hope Mobley Bandy of Houston, Texas and Taryn Amanda Mobley of Waynesboro, Georgia.He is also survived by his brother Melvin Mobley and his wife Sandra of Waynesboro, Georgia."Uncle Joe" was loved by his many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother Sara Mallard Mobley and his father Lewis Mobley.He was also preceded in death by his sisters Rosalee Lutes Kelly and Juanita Mobley, and brothers Sammy, Flint, Thomas, Gordon, Nease, Lamar, George, Hervie and Dale.

The family would like to thank his niece Jean Loren and her daughter Jeneen for their unconditional love and support

He truly was an amazing dog trainer.Plantation owners would spend thousands of dollars training dogs only to have Joe retrain them.Joe was also an avid horseman and outdoorsman.He spent his life working for plantations as hunt master and dog master.The Plantations he worked for included: Di-Lane, The Oaks, Nilo, Bull Island, Spring Island, and Gregory Neck.In 1973 when he moved his family to Bull Island in Bluffton, SC, he transferred his love of animals on to care for the zebra, buffalo, peacocks, and turkeys that lived on the island, as well as continuing to be an expert dog trainer.

In 2002 Joe moved back to Waynesboro and worked with family until his retirement.Joe was Joe.One of a kind.Everybody knew it.

Because of Joe's love of dogs, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Joe's memory to Old Fella Burke County Rescue, P.O. Box 1437, Waynesboro, GA30830; Burke County Animal Hospital, 132 South Liberty Street, Waynesboro, GA30830 for spaying and neutering of strays:Jasper Animal Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1179, Ridgeland, SC29936; or an animal rescue organization of your choice.

At Joe's request, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
