Jonnie Mae Chance, 91, entered into the kingdom of heaven, January 4, 2024, after a long and joy-filled life. She was born in Waynesboro, August 28, 1932, to Walton Frances North and Ena Grace (Wiley) North. Jonnie Mae retired from the Burke County Health Department as a bookkeeper and administrator after 30 years. In retirement, she became a more avid member of the community and the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, and enjoyed baking, yard work, and of course playing cards with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jonnie Mae is predeceased by her husband John Thomas Chance, Jr.; her son, Thomas Walton Chance; and sisters, Betty Jean Cline and Martha Frances North.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine Fouche also of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Deborah Chance of Warner Robbins, GA; dearest niece, Martha Ann Crawford (Steve) of Johns Creek, GA; four grandchildren, Tommy Fouche of Waynesboro, Suzanne Feltman (Moni) of Louisville, CO, Jennifer Petrosky (Aaron) of Charlotte, NC, and Brandon Chance (Macey) of Warner Robbins, GA; eight great grandchildren, Madison Long (Phillip), Alex Fouche, Morgan and Zachary Feltman, Ava, Max and Emmaline Petrosky, and Walton Chance; and her most recent blessing, great- great grandson, Calvin Long.
