Mr. Jimmy Franklin Richardson, Sr., age 80, of Waynesboro, entered into rest Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta after an extended illness. He was one of eight children born to the late Sam and Bessie Richardson in Reidsville, GA on July 31, 1936. He lived most of his life in Waynesboro and retired from Southern Bell in 1999 after 44 years of service. Jimmy was a member of the Waynesboro Masonic Lodge #274 and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. He was an outdoorsman that loved fishing, hunting, and farming and was known as the "Neighborhood Mechanic" who was always willing to help others. He was a simple man that loved the land. He and Joanne enjoyed traveling and antiquing. Jimmy loved his entire family with all of his heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Franklin Goodin; two brothers, S.C. Richardson and Ray Richardson; and two sisters, Gwen Thompson and Jeanette Gale.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joanne Richardson; two children, Jimmy Franklin Richardson, Jr. (Vivian) of Dahlonega, GA and Jennifer Ann Richardson Fox (Gary) of Cleveland, GA; seven grandchildren, Danny Richardson (Robin) of Winder, GA, Duane Richardson (Kara) of Elijay, GA, David Richardson (Christie) of Brunswick, GA, Lindsey Richardson-Weston (Brian) of Lawrenceville, GA, Justin Richardson (Randi) of Oakwood, GA, Brandon Goodin of Savannah, GA, and Meghan Flanagan (Shawn) of Olympia, WA; eight great-grandchildren, Bryte Leadbeater, Britton Richardson, Brayson Richardson, Jackson Weston, Shelby Weston, Avery Weston, Cardin Richardson, and Harlie Richardson; a sister, Jewel Hall of Dublin, GA; two brothers, Eddie Richardson (Katherine) of Darien, GA and Jerry Richardson (Vickie) of Waynesboro, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Saturday, April 22 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2:30pm Sunday, April 23 at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro with Dr. G. Al Wright, Jr. officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Glenn Ashe, Dexter Rhodes, Sam Corley, Jesse Burke, Mike Norris, and Dean Gustafason.
