He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary M. Flakes; 7 children, James E. Flakes (Lynn) of Waynesboro, Jimmy Flakes (Deryl) of Waynesboro, Danny E. Flakes (Shirley) of Waynesboro, Ricky Flakes (April) of Waynesboro, BrendaF. Holden (Kenny) of Grovetown, Donna F. Stuckey of Wagener, SC, and Tim D. Flakes (Tammy) of Waynesboro; son-in-law, Charles McLeRoy of Waynesboro; 2 brothers, John Flakes of Waynesboro and Douglas Flakes of Hephzibah; 5 sisters, Dorothy McCullough of Waynesboro, Mildred Thompson of Hiltonia, Betty Oglesby of Martinez, Faye Herrington of Waynesboro, and Nell Black of Girard; many grand, great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 8 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, July 9 at the funeral home. Rev Wayne Dixon will officiate. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Flakes, Travis Flakes, Jimmy "J.J." Flakes, T.J. Flakes, Jessie Stuckey, Stephen Stuckey, Billy Hornsby, and Chris Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Botsford Baptist Church Building Fund, 825 Botsford Church Rd, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
