Brunswick, GA – Jim Dickey, 69, entered into rest on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at his home. He was born on October 31, 1943 in Screven County to Gladys Dickey and the late James Dickey. He worked for United Insurance Company for many years. He was an avid fisherman, loved to cook and read, and loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. His quotes were "He had more than Mark Twain's handful of friends" and "He loved and was loved. He had many more good days than bad days". He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Dickey, and two brothers, Matt Dickey and Jerry Dickey.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael Dickey (Alana) of Waynesboro, GA and Marcus Dickey of Nicholls, GA; three brothers, Eddy Dickey (Deane) of Millington, TN, Eric Dickey (Laney) of Littlefield, TX, and Neil Dickey (Shaker) of Sylvania, GA; sister, Martha Copeland (Jimmy) of Dasher, GA; three grandchildren, Ansleigh Dickey, Madison Dickey, and Tiffany Dickey; sister-in-law, Dot Dickey; two best friends, Frank Chandler and Truitt Nobles; and many other family members and friends.
The Memorial Service will be held at 5pm on Wednesday, October 9, at the funeral home. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.Eric Dickey will officiate.
