Girard-Mrs. Jewel W. Chandler 78, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at University Hospital. Mrs. Chandler was born in Washington County and has been resident of Burke County since 1972. She was a 1956 graduate from Sardis-Girard-Alexander High School, a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and was retired from Southern Company after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by husband, Mr. Joe Chandler

Surviving are, her sons, Greg Chandler and wife Sherry and Jeff Chandler both of Girard; her sisters, Ruth Stevens of Wadley, Mable McMillian of Tifton, Gail Dudley of Wadley and Brenda Hall of Wadley; her grandchildren, Justin Chandler (Ellen), Amy Cullipher (Lee), Erin Thames (Jay), Joseph Chandler (Felicia), and Jeffery Chandler and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Sardis Baptist Church with the Reverend Nick Bates and Reverend Mark Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
