Waynesboro, GA. - Jesse Eugene Johnson, Jr. "Bubba" , 71, entered into rest Sunday, April 15, 2012 at his residence.
Born in Burke County on March 5, 1941, he was a son of the late Jesse Eugene Johnson, Sr. and Lois Weatherford Johnson. A lifelong resident of Burke County, he was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. He owned and operated an auto shop and service station in Waynesboro for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan Hill Johnson.
He is survived by five children, Randy Johnson, Ricky Johnson (Debra), Rhonda Johnson Matthews (Bryan), Diane Berry (George), and Melissa McMurrain Edwards, all of Augusta; six siblings, Nell Johnson Mobley, Helen Johnson Bailey (Otis), Lucile Johnson Cheeks (Eugene), Virginia Johnson Mead (Shorty), Jimmy Johnson (Mary Ann), all of Waynesboro, and Richard Johnson (Vickie), of Bay Minette, AL. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Pastor Bryan Matthews and Pastor Ron Drawdy will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service starting at 10:30 am, and immediately following the service at the home of Nell Johnson Mobley.
