Girard, GA - Mr. Jerry Manley, age 86, of Girard, entered into rest Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He grew up in Waynesboro. He received a BS and Masters Degree from Georgia Southern College. He taught school in Florida, Burke County, and Richmond County until his retirement in 1987. Jerry and his family enjoyed traveling and campground hosting all over the United States and Canada. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Manley and Mary Noteman Manley.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Glenda Heath Manley; two sons, Glenn Manley (Kati Fazzio Manley) of Statesboro and Brantley Tillis (Linda) of Winter Springs, FL; a daughter, Marcia Tillis Reed of Gainesville, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher and Steven Tillis; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Manley (Jill) of Bluffton, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, March 9 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 3pm Saturday, March 10 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Girard with Rev. Tom Tidwell, Rev. Jesse France, and Rev. Chuck Stutsman officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wade Huffman, Robert Collins "R.L.", Noah Mallard, Caleb Mallard, Christopher Hendley, Vic Mallard, Jason Cravens, and Roger Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be former employees of Black Rock Mountain State Park, Dale Heath, Andrew Metzger, Jason Martin, Jack Martin, Robert Hall, Reuben Frazier, Alton Howell, Bill Giles, Connie Fitch, members of the Bulloch County Fire Department, Jonathan Fadden, and Steve Martin.
