He was a high school graduate from Central High School in Knoxville, TN. He received a degree as an electrician in Fulton County, Georgia and retired with the USDA as a blood sampler for cows. Jerry loved the Lord, his family, hunting, fishing and baseball. He was a member of Botsford Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Georgia and Vidette Hunting Club. He played an active role in his children's lives by keeping them busy in football, basketball, softball, and baseball.Baseball is where Jerry has left his mark in Waynesboro. He coached many years after his own children left the recreation department programs and moved on to the school leagues.Even after his stroke, which put him in a motor scooter, he continued to coach. It is what kept him going. The young boys gave so much to him. They made him believe he was still needed and in return he kept going. There were times he came across a young boy who didn't have a glove to play baseball. He would find a way to get that young man his own glove.Watching young people become successful put a smile on his face.He never met a stranger and never was one to keep his opinion to himself. You knew where you stood. He loved his parents and honored them each year after their death by sending a donation to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Knoxville, TN.This is the same church he grew up serving as an altar boy and was later married. He was proud of his Greek heritage. He was very sick his last days and his body was in great pain, but he continued to make his daily phone call rotation never complaining about himself. His mind was at peace with his body and he left this earth peacefully in his sleep.
