Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Waynesboro First United Methodist Church.
Wife of the late George Alfred Steadman, Jr.Born to Ruth Lock Lowry and Dr. John A. Lowry in Swainsboro, Georgia, November 12, 1924.She moved to Ellaville, Georgia at an early age.She was a graduate of Ellaville High School and attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia.Before moving to Waynesboro to work for the Farmers Home Administration she worked for the Production Credit Association in Americus, Georgia.
Mrs. Steadman had a tremendous faith and had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church having served on the Administration Board and many committees.She was also a member of the Lillian Powell Sunday School Class.Over the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, was an active member of the United Methodist Women where she served as both local and district president, and on several conference committees.
Mrs. Steadman was a member of the Waynesboro Garden Club, former member of the Waynesboro Book Club and a hospital Pink Lady.
She is survived by daughters Martha Jane Sanders and her husband, Dr. Harvey Sanders, Georgia LeMaster and her husband, Hank LeMaster, a son George Alfred Steadman, III and his wife Ann. Nine grandchildren, Jay and David Sanders, Alison Haskins, Jane O'Dell, Tripp Davidson, Suzanne Hartzler, Julie Burkhalter, Catherine Richardson, Olivia Bulcao and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Harvey Sanders, 2 Huntington Place, Waynesboro, GA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 420, Waynesboro, Georgia.
