Augusta, GA - James M. Sikes, 77, entered into rest on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at University Hospital.He was born in Waynesboro, GA on May 22, 1932 to the late Henry Zone Sikes and Lottie Saxon Sikes.He was retired from the United States Army with over 20 years of service.He served in Vietnam, Korean Conflict, and Indochina, where he received numerous medals, including Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and four Overseas Service Bars.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Sikes, and sister, Jewel Royal.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie Martinez and Gail Dusablon; sisters, Lottie Bell Reddick and Totsie Boyington; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Jim Miller.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro.Rev. Earl Saxon will be officiating.Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.
