Millen-James Edward "Elmo" Overstreet 70, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was a native and lifelong resident of Jenkins County. He was a devoted member and Deacon of Green Fork Baptist Church and was a retired farmer, farming for Herrington Farms in Perkins for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Joyner Overstreet and his son, Sammy Overstreet.
Surviving are his children, Betty Jo Overstreet Purvis, Kenny Overstreet, Billy Overstreet, Jimmy Overstreet, Lorean Overstreet Smith all of Jenkins County, a sister, Mary Hunter of Waynesboro, his brothers, Dusty Overstreet, James Overstreet, Dorsey Overstreet all of Jenkins County; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmy Allen and the Reverend Ray Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
