James Lloyd Allen Sr. peacefully passed away at home early Tuesday morning February 7, 2023. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James Dana Allen and Mildred Murray Allen, and a brother, Tommy J. Allen Sr.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 26 years, Peggy Allen; a brother, Terry D. Allen (Dayle); two sons, James Lloyd Allen Jr. (Debbie) and Troy Allen (Cathy); step-daughter, Melissa Parrish; step-son, Stacy Griner; 11 grandchildren, Cristian Allen, Alexander Allen, Kristie Allen, Lance Allen, Dean Parrish, Haley Coleman (Tyler), Maddie Flowers (Tory), Hannah Weaver (Michael), Gracie Jarvis (Zach) Jacob Griner, and Trenton Griner; and 7 great grandchildren. Jimmy has several nieces and nephews along with many cousins and close friends.
Jimmy retired in 1986 after 35 years of service from Procter and Gamble. He also spent 37 years of service to the Shriners, serving 10.5 of those on the Board helping countless children. Jimmy held many leadership positions within the community throughout his life. Jimmy was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church and was a world traveled gentleman who devoted his life helping others.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, February 9 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Sharpe and Greg Coursey officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jody Ellison, Art Lively, Tommy Nix, Travis Jenkins, Leroy Bell, and Frank Lackman.
