James S. Dickens, 71, entered into rest Friday, March 24, 2023, after a lengthy battle with heart disease which he fought with courage and tenacity. Special thanks to all the doctors and staff on CVICU at Augusta University for their devoted efforts and continued compassion. They entered the fight with dedication and effort that was unwavering.
Jimmy worked at Lily Tulip for 35 years. He loved driving with the top down on his bright red T-Bird and spending hot summers lounging in the pool for hours on end. He worked hard in the yard and loved to fix things and tinker. The Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs were his favorite sports teams and he was a dedicated fan throughout the years. He loved and cared for his wife, ensuring she would be cared for at every moment. He loved his family and his loyal pets.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karin Dickens; his children Joey Dickens (Jessica) and Jessica Waters (Mike); his grandchildren, Grace, Sam, Leah, Tori, Riece, Lila, Jacob; his great-grandson, Felix; his sisters, Linda Moore and Margaret Pickett; and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Quentin and Ethel Dickens; and his brother, Michael Dickens.
There will be no formal services per his and the family’s request.
