Waynesboro, GA - James Robert Braswell "Bobby", age 78, of Waynesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019
Bobby worked in his early years for his family run business, "Braswell's Ice Plant". He was the Superintendent for the City of Waynesboro Water Works Department for many years. Mr. Braswell was a member of the Waynesboro Church of God for 57 years. He loved the Lord and was a true man of God.
He had many hobbies such as hunting, gardening, and following his boys around doing odd jobs. Bobby was known as the neighborhood Papa and his interest in classic cars was known by many.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Ann Quick Braswell; his parents, Robert H. and Lucille S. Braswell; and a sister, Eugenia B. Scott.
Mr. Braswell is survived by his son, Rodney Braswell (Shannon); a daughter, Sonya Fitzgerald (Corlett); grandchildren, Chad Franke (Suzanne), Shawn Franke (Dr. Taylor Franke), Aaron Weeks (Casey), Robert Foster Braswell, and Annabelle Jones; great grandchildren, Madelyn Franke, and Mason James Franke. Also surviving are his brothers, Johnny Braswell (Cherry) and Tommy Braswell (Joan); a sister, Betty B. Whitaker (Richard); sisters-in-law, Rachel Q. Ross (Bud), Angie Q. Doyle (Elmon), and Joyce Quick; many nephews, nieces, friends, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and his dog named Tuffy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 19 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 20 at 3:00 pm at Waynesboro Church of God with Pastor Matt Wigley officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Rodney Braswell, Chad Franke, Shawn Franke, Aaron Weeks, Foster Braswell, and Mason Franke. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe B. Commer, Calvin Buxton, Russell Flakes, Bill Babb, Jackie Taylor, and Miller Hillis.
