Jackie M. Taylor, 73, entered into rest Saturday, August 24, 2019. He was born on January 19, 1946, to the late Jack and Mattie Lee Bragg Taylor. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the Army Reserves. Jackie was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #274, past Master from1997-1998, and American Legion Post #120, where he was a past Commander. He was a former member of the Waynesboro Jaycees and Scottish Rite Valley of Augusta. He was a former Superintendent of the Waynesboro Waste Water Treatment Plant. Jackie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Taylor; a son, Charles Taylor; and five brothers, Jimmie Taylor, Robert Taylor, Leslie Taylor, Steven Sapp, and Marvin Sapp.
He is survived by three children, Jackie Timothy Taylor of Waynesboro, Debra Glisson (Eddie) of Waynesboro, and Joseph Taylor (Jenny) of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Taylor, Charlie Adam Taylor, Timothy Joshua Taylor, Victoria Douglas, Erin Glisson, Joseph Allen Taylor, Jr., Ayden Broxton, Mason Mitchell Taylor, and Robin Demshar.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday, August 27 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, August 28 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Saxon officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Willie Burley, Terry Ivey, Juan Ivey, Casey Taylor, Norton Edwards, and Larry Vickrey.
