Waynesboro, GA - Jack M. Holland, 84, died March 1, 2011 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.Mr. Holland was a native of Jenkins County and had lived in Burke County since retiring from the Air Force in 1965.He was a Navy veteran, World War II.He participated in the Berlin Airlift and was a Korean War veteran.During his military service, he received the following decorations and awards:Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Battle Star (Okinawa), American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Berlin Air Device, Medal for Humane Action (Berlin Airlift), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean Freedom Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and others.
Mr. Holland was a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society, the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Air Force Association, AARP, and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Waynesboro; stepson, Allen Smith and his wife, Patsy, of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Misty of Delray Beach, FL, Kimberly and her husband, Scott, of Atlanta, and Christopher and his wife, Sabrina, of Charleston; five great-grandchildren, Skylar, Austin, Sophia, Olivia, and Madison; and two nephews, Guy and Kell Holland, Macon, GA.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the funeral home.
Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro, GA.
