Inez Rollins

March 30, 1931 — July 9, 2019

Inez "Mema" Rollins, 88, passed away on Tuesday July 9, 2019, at University Hospital in Augusta. She was born on March 30, 1931, in McBean, GA, to the late Sidney Oscar Sims and Crettie Roark Sims.

Inez was not only a loving Mother and "Mema" to her own family but also to so many others. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and this showed through the lives she touched when she taught Sunday School and the GAs. In her younger days, Inez was a good softball player and her love of this sport led her to help with little league baseball. She was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs and she loved to fish. She was a member of Botsford Baptist Church, a former member of the West Burke Homemakers, and a former Pink Lady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. Rollins, Jr.; and seven of her siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lively (K.O.) of Waynesboro; her son, R.E. Rollins III of Martinez; a grandson, Jeff Rollins (Beth) of Martinez; two granddaughters, Tara Syms (Chad) of Waynesboro, and Michelle Fitzgerald (Ray) of Martinez; three great-grandsons, Connor Syms, Elliott Teague, and Dylan Teague; five great-granddaughters, Haley Fitzgerald, Paige Rollins (U.S. Coast Guard), Chloe Syms, Claire Syms, and Calista Outten; a brother, Derrell Sims of Acworth, GA; "adopted" daughter, Alice Sue Redd of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 11 at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Friday, July 12 at Botsford Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Dann and Rev. Jerry Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Botsford Baptist Church, 825 Botsford Church Road, Waynesboro, GA, 30830 or Edmund Burke Academy, PO Box 787, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
