Hattie Blackstone Moore

October 25, 1942 — December 2, 2024

We share news of the passing of Hattie Blackstone Moore on Monday, December 2nd, 2024. Born October 25th, 1942, on family land, she was the youngest girl to her parents, Frederick Sullivan and Viola Inglett Blackstone. Growing up in a farming family without an excess of means, Hattie's work ethic was strong. In life she wore several hats, beyond mother of three, time was spent in the beauty industry, owning and running Aunt Hattie's Catering from home, and finding time to receive a degree with honors from Kerr College in business management in 1992. She later retired from Covan Moving Company.

An ever-present wit, smile, and mischievous blue eyes enlivened anyone lucky enough to be in her company. She knew how to dance well and loved old country music. Her garden abounded with all manner of food and flowers. Bringing those to the table for her family and friends brought her joy. Her cooking and wit brought everyone else joy.

Hattie joyfully joins her 11 brothers and sisters who have gone before. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen "Chic" Moore; her daughter, Elizabeth Dickey; and a grandson, Dillion Bartlett.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Everette and Melanie Newman; her daughter, Sophia Newman; four grandchildren: Joie Quick (Joyice), Aaron Lemon, Ansley Newman, and Xandry Newman; a great grandchild, Nathanial Quick; two bonus great grandchildren, Joshua and Kapri Hammock; as well as dear friends, many nieces, and nephews.

Hattie's memory will continue to bring those who knew and loved her happiness until we meet again.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, December 5 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bruce Allen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
