Gough, GA- Hattie Rowland Carpenter, 99, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. She was born August 19, 1914 in Jefferson County to the late Samuel R. Rowland and Pheobe Salter Rowland. She was a homemaker and a member of Vidette Methodist Church. Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters, 2 brothers, and a son in law, Daniel T. Sams.

She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Sams of Gough; a son, Oscar U. Carpenter, Jr. (Carol) of North Aurora, IL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2pm Tuesday August 27 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dewey Henderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
