Harold Loyd Chavis

Waynesboro, GA - Harold Loyd Chavis, age 73, passed away March 30, 2010 after a long illness under the care of his loving wife and hospice.

Harold was born May 28, 1936 in Hartford, Alabama.He was the son of the late Dewey Chavis and Carlie Kate Jones Chavis.He was of the Holiness Faith.
Harold ventured out on his own at the age of 13.He later joined the Union.He became a sheet metal worker for Local #73 out of Chicago and stayed there for 40 years.Harold, a Pvt E-2 Co. C1st Airborne 124th Infantry, was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard of Florida and was a reserve of the Army.Harold loved the great outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting, and traveling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Ann Chavis; two sons, Sam Chavis (Patti) of Gig Harbor, Washington and Randy Chavis (Brenda) of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Terisha, and Garrett; two sisters, Geraldine Jones (Earl) of Umatilla, Florida and Lil Ruth of Umatilla, Florida; four brothers, Larry Chavis (Linda) of Umatilla, Florida, Billy Chavis (Joyce) of Umatilla, Florida, Gerald Chavis (Judy) of Dothan, Alabama, and Bob Chavis (Donna) of Umatilla, Florida; and great-grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Carson, Oliver, and Avery.

To honor his wishes, Harold was cremated.

Flowers are being accepted at the residence and friends may call.
