Evans, GA - Gerald Grafton "Sonny" Wheat, 83, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Knob Hill Assisted Living in Evans.He was born in Miami, Florida on May 28, 1925 to the late George Grafton Wheat and Minnie Holston Wheat.He retired as an electrician at Thomson Manor Nursing Home.He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his son, George Wheat of Evans; his daughter, Nancy Green (Robert) ofPigeon Forge, Tennessee; his sister, Jean Wheat Dykes of Eufaula, AL; three grandchildren, Chris Wheat, Daniel Wheat, and Frederick Norman Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Wheat and Kyla A. Jones; and three nieces.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 12:00 noon at Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro, with Rev. Gene Sexton officiating.The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
