Hephzibah, GA - Gladys I. James, 91, entered into rest on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Burke Medical Center, Waynesboro.She was born on August 14, 1917 in Richmond County, Georgia to the late Lucious Jones and Mamie Prickett Jones.She was a homemaker, who loved flowers, riding golf carts, cooking, and traveling to the mountains.She was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kerr James, and her two sons, Richard James and Tommy James.
She is survived by three sons, Fred B. James, Robert E. James, and Jack Randolph; five daughters, Myrtle Bartlett (Jim), Joyce Blackstone (Bill), Dorothy Thomas (J.E.), Wanda Shelly (Donald), and Marian Purkey (Jimmy); one sister, Frances Zeccardi (Jimmy); her special friend, Vermell Durrance; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank the staffs of Dr. Bonnie Jenkins, Dr. Hensley, and Burke Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Prickett Family Cemetery with Rev. Bucky Halford officiating.
