Waynesboro, GA – Mrs. Gladys Joyner Dickey, age 97, of Waynesboro, GA, entered into rest Friday, November 3, 2017.
She was born on October 13, 1920, in Screven County to the late Boney Matthew Joyner and Bertie Peavy Joyner. She spent most of her life in the Screven and Burke County areas. Mrs. Dickey was a long time and faithful member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Dickey; her daughter, Martha D. Copeland; three sons, Matthew A. Dickey, Jimmy B. Dickey, and Jerry Alton Dickey; and a grandson, Rodney Dickey.
Survivors include three sons, C. Edwin Dickey (Deane), J. Eric Dickey (Elaine), and R. Neil Dickey (Elizabeth). Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Dickey; son-in-law, Jimmy W. Copeland; twenty one grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 11, 2017, in the chapel of DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home with Eric Dickey, Eddy Dickey, and Eugene Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow at Hurst Baptist Church Cemetery near Hiltonia.
