Waynesboro, GA. – Mr. George William "Bill" Quick, age 82, entered into rest Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta. Born in Waynesboro on June 7, 1931 he was a son of the late George Bryant Quick and Josie Quick. After serving his country in the United States Army he resided in Miami, Florida. Mr. Quick moved back to Waynesboro in 1978 and worked at Mizell Ford until retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro and enjoyed fishing, painting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his wife, Barbara Halpern Quick; four brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his children, Melissa Quick Hackney (Dean) of Gainesville, Georgia; and Tracy Quick (Denise) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Ava and Tate Hackney both of Gainesville, Kayla Smith and her fianc Rhett of Waynesboro, and Abigail Quick of Waynesboro. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Reverend Earl Saxon will officiate. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.
