George E. Cook

George E. Cook, 86, of Lancaster, Ohio formerly of Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center. He was born on December 21, 1937, in Lancaster to the late Harry Z. Cook, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Hobensak) Cook. George retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. He was a retired security officer for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. George was a K-9 handler in the military and his love of his dogs continued after his retirement. He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed hunting, and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura E. (Barber) Cook; second wife, Edna (Kilpatrick) Cook; son, Byron King; brother, Harry Z. Cook Jr.; and sisters, Essie L. Ives and Patricia A. Howell. George is survived by his son, Edward G. Cook (Kathy), son, William G. Cook (Tish), daughter, Laura A. Ogden, and son, Rodney Parker; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, James Cook; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, November 25 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, November 26 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Shyrock officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery.
