Waynesboro, GA – Mr. Gary A. Swindell, age 71, of Waynesboro stepped into Heaven on Saturday, May 7, 2016 after an extended illness.
Mr. Swindell was a sergeant in the United States Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam. Later he served for 13 years as a State Trooper for the Georgia State Patrol in Brunswick, GA. He then moved to California and served in the California Air National Guard for many years. He made Waynesboro his home 20 years ago and worked as Chief of Security for Gracewood and Georgia Regional. He was basically a hermit who loved his quiet den and reading books. He was a hard working man and a good husband and father. He and his wife complimented each other with their totally opposite personalities.He was the yin to her yang.
He will leave behind his wife of 49 years, Linda Swindell; and a son, Elak Swindell both of Waynesboro.
A memorial service will be held at his home on 807 Academy Ave. Waynesboro, GA 30830 at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 29, 2016.
