Waynesboro – Gary Lamar Rigdon, Jr., 42, passed away on Saturday June 22, 2019, at the Burke County Medical Center, following a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 7, 1977, in Savannah, GA, to Gary Lamar Rigdon, Sr., and Loretta O'Neal Rigdon.
Gary was a diehard Burke County Bears fan, and he rarely missed a game. He enjoyed fishing, almost as much as he enjoyed the Bears, and he liked to cook on the grill. Gary was a good friend to many and he loved his four nephews as if they were his own.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; L.E. Rigdon, Jr., Nancy Rigdon, Roscoe O'Neal, and Lillian Bobbie Mock.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers; Matthew Rigdon (Sue Anne) of Waynesboro, and Randall Rigdon (Cindy) of Blythe; a sister, Alicia Chavers of Hephzibah; his maternal grandmother, Rhetta O'Neal of Savannah; four nephews, Blake Chavers, Mickie Chavers, Billy Bob Rigdon, and Bradley Rigdon; his longtime girlfriend, Emily Partain; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 7pm until 9pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Deloach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home. No other services are scheduled at this time.
