Fayte Murray, 62, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 22, 2019.
There is a measure of a man after he passes through this life that speaks volumes of the life he left behind.
"It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go." ~ Three wooden crosses, Randy Travis
Fayte was one of the most aggravating, hardheaded, stubborn, people you'd ever meet. His life choices were not always ones you could agree with but he was also hilariously funny, caring, tender hearted, and compassionate. Someone said it this way "He was a real person, what you saw was what you got, no pretense." Another person said "He was one-of-a-kind for sure." And, "He had a heart as big as all outdoors." He was a jack of all trades. At times he installed irrigation systems. He was a carpenter. For a while, he worked on a crew that hung cables wires in the mountains of North Carolina and in the early days of plant Vogtle, he was a member of the operators union and was responsible for operating a tower crane for units one and two. He couldn't stand to see anything suffer and once even ‘stole a dog' after challenging the owner who had the dog chained to a tree to "turn him loose, or I'm taking him home with me." His personal code of ethics was unconventional but his sense of right or wrong was strong. "His struggles were many, but his heart was big." So many people loved him... "Heaven gained an amazing man." "I loved that crazy Fayte Murray." And this, "...so many memories." Memories indeed, and stories galore. "Later"
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas W. and Ellie W. Murray and his brother Dirk Murray.
Surviving are a brother, Chris Murray and wife Joyce of Waynesboro; a sister, Charmain Murray of Sardis; nieces and nephews, Nicholas Cochran, Paige Anderson, Ken Bailey, Angie Khakpour, Jeff Murray, Thomas Murray, Stacie Buckley, Tammy Dixon, Matthew Dixon; several great nieces and nephews; a step-daughter, Kimberly Wilson; and his canine companion "Clyde"
