Eugenia Chandler Braswell, 74, left this world to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was born in Millen to the late Ralph and Lillie Mae Chandler and was a long-time resident of Burke County before moving to Rincon, GA to be closer to her family. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a specialist degree in early childhood education, she began her teaching career at Waynesboro Primary School and remained there for over 33 years before retiring. After retiring, she taught for 3 years at Edmund Burke Academy. She was a passionate teacher and loved her students. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning Burke County Teacher of the Year. She was a longtime member of Waynesboro First United Methodist Church and most recently a member of the Rincon Global Methodist Church. Eugenia loved music and learning to play new instruments. She loved singing and was in multiple bands, groups, and choirs. She led children’s choirs, adult choirs, and gave piano and guitar lessons. She was a member of D.A.R, where she served as Regent and Recording Secretary. Eugenia enjoyed traveling, reading, birdwatching, and having lunch or dinner with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Braswell (Gloria) of Rincon; her daughter, Crystal Michelle Howell (Orlando) of Richmond Hill; three grandsons, T.J. Braswell of Rincon, E.C. Braswell of Rincon, and Samuel David Cepeda of Richmond Hill; a sister, Rebecca Mobley of Waynesboro; nephew, George Mobley (Jamie) of Waynesboro; niece, Ginger Butler (Larry) of Waynesboro; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, November 4 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, November 5 at Waynesboro First Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Finn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lucky Chandler, Roy Chandler, Gerald Murray, Roy Kirchner, Shelton Brigham, George Mobley, and Grant Mobley.
Remembrances may be made to the Rincon Global Methodist Church or Waynesboro First Methodist Church.
