Etta Johnson Rollins

June 7, 1931 — October 8, 2013

Waynesboro, Georgia - Mrs. Etta Johnson Rollins, age 82, wife of the late John Perry Rollins for 55 years, entered the Gates of Heaven Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Heavenly Hands Personal Care Home in Augusta, Georgia after a horrific battle with the mind ceasing disease, Alzheimer's.

God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be.He put his arms around her and whispered "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away.Although we loved her dearly, we could not beg her to stay. A golden heart stopped beating and hardworking hands put to rest.God took her home to show us He always takes the best.

Mrs. Rollins was born in Aiken County, South Carolina but had lived the last 55 years in Burke County, Georgia. Mrs. Rollins was the daughter of the late Bessie Weatherford Johnson and the late Haskell Claude Johnson. In the past, she worked at Mack's Department Store, The Village Square and The Glamour Box.As a Christian woman, she worked hard to serve the Kingdom of the Lord.In her lifetime she had been a member of Stiefletown Baptist Church, Gough Baptist Church and Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. She was a born teacher and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She could crochet and cross stitch. Actually, she could do anything she set her mind to do.

She is survived by three children; Rachel Boyd Brown (Bruce) of Augusta, Miriam Boyd Brooks (Jay) of Martinez and Steve B. Boyd (Monica) of Seoul, Korea; three grandchildren: Allison Brown of Augusta, Jason Salemi (Alison) of Augusta and Gina Hyejin of Singapore; and five great grandchildren: Jackson Owens, Ana Grace Owens, Brandon Salemi, Kenley Salemi and EmmaClaire Salemi. She is also survived by sister-in-laws; Barbara Ann Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Zula Mae Johnson.
