Ernest C. Johnson, Sr. 90, entered in to rest Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Mr. Johnson was a native of Glascock County and was a lifelong resident of Burke County. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during WWII. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro and the "Spares and Pairs" Sunday school class. He was the owner and operator of Johnson's Barber Shop in Waynesboro for many years; a former member of the Waynesboro Lions Club and Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Johnson was preceded death by his wife of 59 years Betty Faigler Johnson, his brother, William Henry Johnson, Jr and his sister, Sarah Johnson Cross.
Surviving are, his son, Ernest "Ernie" C. Johnson and wife Joyce of Waynesboro, his daughter, Cheryl Dixon and husband Rudy of Augusta, his sister, Evelyn Bunn and husband JR of Midville; his grandchildren, Ernest Calvin Johnson III, Robert James Johnson, Melissa Johnson Jordan and husband John, Allison Dixon, Whitney Dixon, Ashley Dixon Hill and husband Nick; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro with the Dr. G Al Wright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Remembrances may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro Building Fund.
