Our beloved mother, Elizabeth Ann Ford, 90, went to her Heavenly home on February 27, 2023. She was born in Pike County on June 25, 1932, to the late George Merrill and Annie Middlebrooks Allen. She was a graduate of Pike County High School and moved to Burke County in 1995. Elizabeth started cooking at 8 years old and enjoyed cooking many kinds of food. She was known for her homemade biscuits, candied yams, and many salads and desserts. She loved to sew and enjoyed doing hemming and mending for herself and others. Elizabeth loved birds and feeding them especially the hummingbirds. She enjoyed growing a variety of plants and sharing them with others.
Elizabeth was a member of Blythe United Methodist Church, where her beloved husband was the pastor until his death. Christ was her personal Savior and she enjoyed serving in the church, having handled the church bulletins in various churches where her husband was the pastor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Francis Lastinger Ford; a daughter, Anita Carol Ford; and three sisters, Jade Burrell, Ruth, Denham, and Merylin Jones.
She is survived by two sons, Alan Baxter Ford (Ellen) of Jacksonville, FL and Wesley Ford (Robin) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Andrew Baxter Ford (Mary) of Seven Valleys, PA, Tyler Nathaniel Ford (John) of Jacksonville, FL, Benjamin Ford of Waynesboro, and Libby Ford of Waynesboro; two great granddaughters, Evee and Lena Ford both of Seven Valleys, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, March at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, March 2 at Blythe United Methodist Church with Rev. Thurman Norville officiating. Burial will be held 11:00am Friday, March 3 at Century Nelson United Methodist Church Cemetery in Meansville, GA.
Active Pallbearers will be Andy Ford, Tyler Ford, Benjamin Ford, Jimmy Huff, Bob Dorrill, and John Dorrill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be United Methodist Pastor’s and their spouses of the North and South GA Conference.
Remembrances may be made to the Vashti Children's Home or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
