Waynesboro, GA - Edna Hayes Hayslip, age 97, passed away at Marks Personal Care Home, Hephzibah, on Thursday, May 12, 2011.Mrs. Hayslip retired from Swainsboro Sportswear in 1975 at which time she moved to Greens Cut where she had resided for 36 years. She was the oldest living member of the Greens Cut United Methodist Church.Mrs. Hayslip was predeceased by her husband, Wiley Hayslip; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hayes; sisters, Wanette Hayes Williams and Bobbie Nell Hayes Odom.
Survivors are her daughter, Marilyn C. "Connie" McCarthy and spouse, Joseph; her grandson, Bill Harrell and spouse, Gail; step-grandsons, Donald and Chris Brown; her sister, Betty Hayes Oliver and spouse, Rev. Tom Oliver; her brother, Durwood Hayes and spouse, Joyce; and a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.The family wishes to express their thanks to Debbie Marks and her staff at Marks Personal Care Home for the excellent care and especially the love shown her during the last three years she made her home there.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home.Rev. Tom Oliver and Dr. Francis Ford will officiate.Interment will follow at Wadley City Cemetery.The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
