Waynesboro, GA - Edna Avrett Thomas, 89, entered into rest on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Burke Medical Center.A native of Winfield, Columbia County, GA, she was born on May 30, 1921 to the late Lorenzo Eugene Avrett and Martha Beasley Avrett.She had lived in Burke County since 1941.She was a past member of Botsford Baptist Church; then in 1966 became a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church.She was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and WMU.She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, E. S. "Bill" Thomas; two sons, Leroy Thomas and Clark Thomas; two sons-in-law, Bill Aldridge and Jerry Dickey; and a great-grandson, Payton Patterson.

She is survived by eight children, Barbara Aldridge of Waynesboro, "J.E." Thomas (Dot) of Hephzibah, Melvis McCullough of Waynesboro, Dorothy Dickey of Fair Play, SC, Edward Thomas (Sarah), Norman Thomas, and Becky Phillips (Joey), of Waynesboro, and David Thomas of Thomaston, GA; two daughters-in-law, Alice Thomas and Kay Thomas of Waynesboro; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at the funeral home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church.Reverend Wes Lawson, Reverend Earl Saxon, Dr. G. Al Wright, Jr., and Reverend Wayne Dixon will officiate.Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be Johnny Braswell, Joel Coble, Kenneth English, Joe Jones, Buddy Oglesby, Jerry Richardson, Harold Smith, and Wallace Sapp.Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, Tom Bugg, Joe Daniel, Robert Rogers, Joe Foster, Avner DeLaigle, and Allen DeLaigle.

Flowers are being accepted; however, contributions may be made to Rosemont Heights Baptist Church "Follow The Vision Building Fund", 710 Stone Avenue, Waynesboro, GA30830.
