Waynesboro, GA - Edward James "Ed" Taylor, 69, entered into rest Monday, August 3, 2009, at University Hospital after an extended illness.He was born April 21, 1940 in Jenkins County to the late W. P. Taylor and Brunell Brown Taylor.A successful business man in Waynesboro, he and his wife, Frankie, were owners of Taylor's Barbecue and Taylor's Auto Sales for many years.He was a member of Spoken Word Tabernacle in Beech Island, SC.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Taylor, and a brother, Franklin Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frankie B. Taylor; children all of Waynesboro, Lorene Farmer (Larry Farmer), Rita T. Woods (Dennis Woods), Eddie J. Taylor (Lynn Taylor), Freddie W. Taylor (Kim Taylor), James E. Taylor, Jr., Marvin Chandler "Honeycomb" who Mr. Taylor helped raise; grandchildren, Bubba Black, George Black, Dennis Woods, Anita Flakes, Preston Taylor, Shannon Spivey, Brandon Taylor, Cody Taylor, Billy Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Nikki Taylor, Whitney Taylor, Trey Taylor, Jessica Taylor, Haley Taylor; great-grandchildren, Cameran Black, Ty Black, Bailey Black, Carson Woods, Carleigh Woods, Brittany Flakes, Millie Flakes, Michael Flakes, Haley Taylor, Heaven Taylor, Hope Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Makayla Quick, Aubrey James; brothers, Preston W. Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Aaron "Buck" Taylor; and sister, Mary Alcott.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.Pallbearers will be Larry Farmer, Marvin Chandler, Mike McGee, Willie "PeeWee" Lawson, Julius Johnson, Bobby Lewis, and Elijah Jones.
