Girard, GA - Earl F. Dixon, 77, entered into rest on September 1, 2009 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Girard with Rev. Dan Bowen and Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. He was born on August 4, 1932 in Girard to the late Charles F. Dixon and Alberta Long Dixon. He was a farmer for over 65 years. He served in the National Guard and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He took pride in working the land, raising animals, and watching things grow. He was a hard worker who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He took joy in sharing his life experiences through stories. He was friendly to everyone, and never met a stranger. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of having a good work ethic, and placed a strong emphasis on family. He was a loving, caring, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan Dixon and Rayford Dixon; two sisters, Margie Lee Reddick Scott, and Reba Moody; and a grandson, Joseph Cain. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee; two sons, Dennis Dixon (Lynn) and Danuial Dixon (Mary Ann); and four daughters, Rose Marie Fuller (Roger), Sarah Ann Dixon, Nancy Jane Cain (Curtis), Earlena Sue Stanley (Scott); and eighteen grandchildren, Halver Dixon (Heather), ShaDonna Fuller (Mike), Matthew Howard, Emily Dixon, Olivia Mobley (Brad), Spencer Dixon, Aimee Dixon, Devan Dixon, Melinda Dixon, John Michael Cain, Paul Cain, Kimberly Dixon, Nathan Stanley, Derek Dixon, LeAnna Stanley, Ethan Dixon, Rylie Dixon, and Josiah Stanley; and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Blake Howard; and four brothers, Odis Dixon, Herbie Dixon, Ira Dixon, and Charles Dixon; and four sisters, Floy Carroll, Mary Bell Hatcher, Susie Ward, and Patricia Taylor; and mother-in-law, Helen Huntley. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at DeLoach Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Pallbearers will be Henry Glisson, Grady Dixon, Ralph Odom, Jeff Mallard, Avner Delaigle, and Evan Mobley.Honorary pallbearers will be C. J. DeLaigle, Phillip Mallard, Vic Mallard, Joe Mallard, Glenn Odom, James Perry, Kenneth Perry, Joey Flake, and Dale Heath.
