Dr. James T. "Jim" Alexander, 79, entered into rest Tuesday, March 28, 2017. He was a native of Jefferson County and has been a resident of Burke County for 50 years. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He attended Erskine College in Due West, SC. Dr. Jim taught middle school in Swainsboro, GA and taught and was the principal in Vidette, GA. In 1965, he graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in Athens and was the owner of Burke County Animal Hospital until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Vidette Presbyterian Church, American Veterinary Medicine Association, Boston Terrier Club of America, Greater Atlanta Boston Terrier Club, and Augusta Medical Veterinary Association. He was a Boston Terrier AKC judge emeritus.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wall Alexander of Waynesboro; three sons, Clay Alexander (Jennifer), Kyle Alexander, and Kary Alexander (Leigh) all of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Karleigh Alexander, Kellyn Alexander, and Jenna Grace Brantley; and two sisters, Ann Bryant and Rosalyn Martin (Lloyd) both of Jefferson County.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am- 12:00pm Thursday, March 30 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 12:00pm Thursday, March 30 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wes Lawson officiating.
