Waynesboro, GA- Dorothy Jane Parker (affectionately known as "Mamie Jo or Jo" by friends and family), 76, entered into rest on Sunday, July 1, 2012. She was raised and spent most of her life in Burke County but also resided, during portions of her life, in Evans, GA, Pensacola, FL, Sylvania, GA, and Locust Grove, GA. She was one of four children born to the late Louie DeLaigle and the late Nancy Quick-DeLaigle. She lived a full life and loved helping others. She had careers as a cosmetologist in Waynesboro, a nurse's assistant in Evans, GA and Pensacola, FL and a police dispatcher with the Sylvania Police Department.
She was preceded in death by her three older siblings, Clayton DeLaigle, Russell DeLaigle, and Charlene DeLaigle-Griffin
She is survived by her husband M.C. Parker of Sardis and three children, Ricky Parker, Pamela Parker and Jody Parker; eight grandchildren, Scott Parker, Christy-Lynn Parker, Rick Parker, Chris Robinson, Robert Hammond, Amber Hammond-Weeks, Austin Parker, and Jenny Parker; ten great grandchildren; Many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July, 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at the DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Reverend Wes Lawson of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church will officiate.
