Doris Jean (Brigham) Zeigler went home to be with the Lord on the 2nd day of March, 2017. Doris was born to William Lewis Brigham and Mary Dennison Brigham on the 16th day of June, 1927, in London, Kentucky. She spent her childhood in Girard, GA before attending Georgia State College for Women where she received a degree in Education of both Home Economics and Chemistry. She returned to Girard to teach high school. It was after WWII in 1949 when she caught the eye of Thurman (T.D.) Dean Zeigler. They would marry, build a home, raise a family, and become a part of the community in Sardis and Burke County. She spent a few years teaching in Screven County and at Edmund Burke Academy, but it was at the Home Economics Department at SGA High School that she spent most of her career teaching and sharing her knowledge of cooking, sewing, and life. Her faith in God was tested during her life when she lost her husband and one son to cancer. Another son was paralyzed soon after and she was his caregiver. She found her strength in the Lord and trusted Him in all things.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Dean Zeigler; sons, Karl Van Zeigler and Albert Glenn Zeigler; and great grandson, Daniel Thurman Zeigler.
She is survived by a son, Brett Dennison Zeigler and wife Diane of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Brett D. Zeigler II and wife Tiffany of Arlington, TX, Amanda Page and husband Jonathan of Mansfield, TX, Elise Ng and husband Justin of Tifton, GA, and Naomi McFadden of Cedar Hill, TX; and great grandchildren, Kyri, Camden, and Jacob Page, and Zoe Zeigler.
Graveside Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 22 at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
