Donny Ree Sharpe, 68, the son of the late Milledge Charles Sharpe Sr. and Vera Sharpe, and Gwendolyn Jackson Sharpe, 66, the daughter of the late Lonnie Ranzie Jackson and Bessie Lee Jackson, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 12, 2020. The Sharpes were residents of Burke County for all 47 years of their marriage. They were members of Botsford Baptist Church; were devout Christians and put family first. When not working, they could be found at the ballpark cheering on their children and grandchildren.
Donny was a native, lifelong resident of Burke County and he graduated from Waynesboro High School. In 2014, after 30 years of providing service to the farmers and companies throughout Burke County, he retired from A&W Oil Company. Donny was an avid Outdoorsman.
Gwendolyn was a native of Swainsboro and graduated from Swainsboro High School. In 2017, she retired from the Burke County Board of Education, having served the children of Burke County for 30 years. Gwendolyn participated in yearly mission trips to West Virginia, taking the love of Christ to people in remote areas.
In addition to their parents, Donny was preceded in death by his brothers, Milledge C. Sharpe, Jr. and Thomas Daniel Sharpe; and his sister, Mary Alice Quintin; Gwendolyn by her sister, Jacqulyne Newsome.
Surviving are their children, Laura Sharpe Scarff and husband Kevin of Honolulu, Hawaii and Tanya Sharpe Dixon of Waynesboro; their grandchildren, Dylan Dixon, Andrew Scarff, Haley Dixon, Chloe Dixon, Ethan Dixon and William Scarff; Donny is survived by his sisters, Joanne Swan and Bobby Jean Macky; Gwendolyn also is survived by her sister Beverly Davis and her brothers, Lester R. Jackson and Lionel Ricky Jackson.
