Donnie Lamar Palmer

April 20, 1950 — July 15, 2018

Waynesboro – Donnie L. Palmer, 68, passed away on Sunday July 15, 2018, at his residence. Donnie was born in Washington, GA on April 20, 1950, to the late Lamar and Sue Jones Palmer, yet he spent most of his life here in Burke County. He was a member of the American Legion Post 120 and a member of Botsford Baptist Church. Donnie was a dedicated military man and proudly served our nation in the Vietnam War.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Evelyn Palmer of Waynesboro; a son, Brent Palmer (Elizabeth) of Johnson City, TN; a brother, Edwin Palmer (Pat) of Albany, GA; a sister, Peggy Bell (Conrad) of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Luke Palmer and Ava Palmer both of Johnson City, TN; a special nephew, Travis Sturdivant of Waynesboro; niece, Stephanie Baxley; and nephew, Cliff Palmer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17 from 9:30-11:00 am at Botsford Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am with the Reverend Mike Dann officiating. Burial will be held at the Georgia War Veterans Cemetery in Glennville, GA at 3:00pm. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion Post 120.
